Ambiguity arises with the word "Swing". The word "Swing" got its name referring to the swing music it was danced to.
The Lindy was originally danced to swing music;
the dancers were called swing dancers, the dance Swing. But now, Swing may refer to a myriad of descendants of the Lindy, such a
East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Ballroom Swing,
Country Western Swing, Rockabilly and Southern Shag.
The major difference between the various swing dances is the different flavors of music. Different music gives the various swing
dances very different stylings and feelings.
It's all Swing! So Just Dance!
